If you look in the middle of the picture, just right of the center, in the bushes you see a white-throated antpitta, a bird with a red skull and white cheast. You may think that this that just another small bird. But according to Mario, a real bird-watcher would be very impressed if I told him that I had seen a white-throated antpitta. It was indeed a bit fascinating. It has a beautiful song (that Mario did a good job of mimicking). It was not very easy to spot it. It was sitting for a few minutes in this place. But every time I had taken my eyes from it, it was difficult to find it again, despite I knew where it was. Taking pictures was a game of chance. The bushes were on low ground, but it was not really a good idea to get down on the knees as this could cause the bird to run away. I had to literally shoot from the hip. |
