Back Main page Fwd

Iquique is in the far north of Chile, 200 km south of the Peruvian border. It rose to fame during the nitrate boom in the 19th century. Today, it is a popular for its beaches, but some 200 000 people live here in total. This is the pedestrian street Baquedano which is lined by some older buildings. On a Saturday morning there is not much action here, but the place is lively in the evening when restaurants and bars are open.
