La Serena is Chile's second oldest city. Around 1950, Chile had a president from this town who initiated a rework of the town centre to make it more elegant. La Serena is a popular holiday destination, since it's only 2 km from the sea, and the beaches are fine. I did not care to make it to the beach though.
